Franklin County Regional Jail

The Franklin County Regional Jail is very fortunate to have some wonderfully dedicated volunteers, that teach and minister to the inmates housed here. We are very grateful for the time they donate to this facility and we consider them a very important part of the Franklin County Regional Jail Family.

The Franklin County Regional Jail shall include among its obligations to the community the provisions to meet the individual, physical, social, educational, religious and recreational needs of each inmate.

Program participation is limited by size due to security needs and most programs require application for attendance. Acceptance is not automatic and is controlled by security concerns as well as behavioral history of the inmate. Misuse, disruption, as well as non attendance shall result in program removal and denial of re-admittance. Movement to disciplinary segregation shall mean automatic removal and placement in protective custody.

THORN HILL EDUCATION CENTER AND FRANKLIN COUNTY REGIONAL JAIL

Why is the Thorn Hill staff successful?  Both instructors from Thorn Hill have prior prison working experience.  Thus they understand the security issues, the client population and the special procedures needed.

Why is education important?

“Prison education is a means of rehabilitating and re-directing. If you release someone with the same skills with which she came in, she’s going to get involved in the same activities as she did before.” – Marymount Bedford Hills Program student

What we currently do?

GED male and female classes and NCRC classes.  We service the class-D side twice a week, and the secure side once a week.  We have two female classes and five male classes on the secure side.  The dorm side meets twice a week and we combine NCRC and GED classes.

Congratulations to the Class of 2018
