Thorn Hill Education Center features two dedicated classrooms, a conference room, a computer lab, a testing room, family room, child care room, multi purpose room, gymnasium with bleachers.
CLASSROOM #1 – The main classroom for Adult Education, tutoring and other events. This classroom features an open concept with natural light and a variety of seating to enhance learning. There are computers available to enhance learning through IXL, Delta Math, Google classroom and Burlington English.
CLASSROOM #2 – This classroom is used for Adult Education and English Language Learning classes. This room has a capacity of 15-20 individuals.
The ESL classroom, located in classroom 2, has a variety of resources for all students. Books and computer programs are available for all students regardless of language barriers.
CONFERENCE ROOM – The conference room is available for board meetings, trainings, small classes and recognition ceremonies. It features a smart tv and a projector.
PARENT AND CHILD ROOM (PACT ROOM) – The PACT room is where parents and children can interact in an educational setting. The 60″ smart TV was donated by Expree Credit Union for the Family Literacy Program.
PAUL SAWYIER MINI LIBRARY – Located in the PACT room, the library has donated books for all ages for individuals to keep.
READING CORNER – The Reading Corner is located in the PACT room. This is where kids of all ages can spend individual time reading books of their choice.
CHILDREN’S EDUCATION ROOM – Located across from the PACT room, the room allows free children’s education opportunities for children while parents are involved in their education. Children participate in a number of activities free of charge.
The Children’s Education room is for all children and is available during classes. It is frequently used for ESL families and individuals seeking adult education services.
COMPUTER ROOM – This room features chrome books and desk top computers for use by individuals. Some of the uses include : ESL and Burlington English, resume writing, internet searches, filing unemployment papers, etc.
TESTING ROOM – The testing room administers test for Pearson, PROV and TABE testing. It features twelve testing stations all behind an administrator/proctors room. Constant monitoring takes place when testing is in session.
GYMNASIUM – The gym is used in a variety of ways which include: birthday parties, special events, Friendsgiving, Chamber Events, Spellapalooza, YMCA, Alliance Wrestling, Sobriety Event, etc.
